Dreams I often see
Eyes closed, eyes open
Wonderful and positive
Funny , hilarious
As a child I often saw a dream
Running to board the rickshaw to school
Half way through the journey no shoes would I see
Potato holes in the socks would worry me
Another would be of a game I would play
With little sis a prankster I must say
Blindfolded I’d be, hiding she’s go
Worried I’d be,only to find her on the jamun tree***
As I grew up to be a lass fine
Saw myself on the top all time
Score card in hand I’d strut in pride
Only to wake and find it a dream
Marriage around the corner I’d dream
A happy long life always with him
Together we’d go to the movies then dine
With sparkling eyes I’d look up at him
Daughter born I thought only of her
My dreams, my aspirations all centered around her
Saw in her a beautiful girl
Intelligent, witty, the darling of all
Dream I of a wonderful education for her
Something she’d love and willingly take
Knowing its’ the gift that we can make
She’s done us proud, the dream has come true
Dreams of a career bright I did see
A token of thanks to mom and dad mine
This I achieved I can say with pride
Left I the same when the time was right
Dreams I see of varied hues
But all I must say are colourful too
Wake up when I from any of them
Find myself recharged with energy new

*** My sister never could climb a tree. It was always a dream I wished was true. Then we could have a lot of fresh juicy Jamuns.
