sifting through the hay
searching worms boundless to prey
the cock cried of joy.

piles of twigs lay here.
rummaging through them picked few,
lovely nest to build.

digging burrow deep
comfortable bed to sleep,
earthworm wiry thin

parasites lazy,
ransacked the chlorophyll green
leaving tree to wilt.

searching through layers,
the hot and bright golden sun
found beauty un-tanned.

the man dived into
floating memories hazy
oh! alzheimer sad

soft hands in pocket
searched madly for the car keys
neglected on shelf.

searching for her love
heaped ironed clothes on the floor
alas ! nothing found.
